" My wife bought me a Christmas present of a double bass this year which we rented until today when I decided to purchase it. Such a purchase is a major event for us and represented a long standing dream come true for me. I am no great musician and as a result it can be intimidating to deal with music stores of any kind but I was made to feel welcome by all three employees while I made my decision. I particularly appreciated the time and care taken by the man who restrung the bass. I wish I had caught his name because such a personable and capable employee deserves recognition, as does the gentleman who completed the sale with my wife and son before Christmas. What a delight it is to have employees take the time that you require to rather than the time that they have. " I bought my upright from Peter Dawson Violins (Corner Bronson and 417). Their 2nd floor has a pretty good selection, and they can order a number of other instruments also.

The owner is both very knowledgeable & helpful, patient, and a great guy. He's a qualified luthier ... not just a commissioned sales-type. They ordered for me exactly the bass I wanted, set it up to my specs & their recommendations, and the thing sings!

Highly recommended! They rent basses for a reasonable price too.
